Three insights into Android 14 for smartphone telematics

Android 14 doesn’t include any fundamental changes. Google is focusing on the stability and security of the operating system. Android is a future-proof and secure ecosystem for insurers wishing to launch smartphone-based products.

Android 14 enhances user privacy with restrictions on starting activities from the background and the introduction of an account deletion web form accessible from Google Play.

The launch of Android 14 is the opportunity for Google to introduce new API requirements. From 31 August 2023, new apps and updated apps will have to target Android 13. This measure aims to ensure that developers comply with the latest security guidelines. The aim is to offer users the highest possible level of security and protection, while reducing the diffraction of Android versions.
