An innovative connected product
In 2018, Altima was looking for a technical partner to launch a unique connected insurance product: pay-per-minute car insurance. Fabien Thierry, Marketing Project Manager at Altima: “We were looking for a well-known player, preferably French, with the ability to help us build an innovative car insurance product.”
A single application for two connected programs
Altima's app for the pay-per-minute insurance program was built on DriveQuant's white-label application. "This solution suited our needs because it was turnkey and could be deployed quickly. Most importantly, the white-label application enabled us to launch a pay-per-mile insurance program almost simultaneously, without having to develop a new application. Both pay-per-minute and pay-per-mile policyholders download the same application. There are only minor interface changes."
Optimized trip detection with a beacon
To ensure the fairest possible pricing, Altima has coupled the app with a beacon. “The beacon allows us to reliably identify that the driver is actually driving an Altima-insured vehicle. It also enables us to retrieve the precise mileage of each trip, by activating the telematics solution as soon as the vehicle starts moving."
Digitalized, positive customer relationships
Thanks to these programs, Altima has digitised its customer relationship and increased the number of touchpoints throughout the life of the contract. “The unique feature of pay-as-you-go insurance programs is that we are always in the policyholder's pocket. It's quite unusual for an insurer to be able to interact with policyholders several times a month. We were surprised in the satisfaction surveys we conducted to find that pay-as-you-go program customers are satisfied with this level of interaction, and that their overall satisfaction is higher than that of other customers.”
A positive bilan
“The results are more than positive. The objectives set have been achieved. In particular, we have a controlled claims rate. This is important.”
